Tip of the Week

Most people have heard the Nextel commercial that says, "Where you at?" to promote their push-to-talk phones. While Nextel is one of the most popular carriers to offer these walkie talkie cell phones, other carriers are slowly entering the market as well.

Sprint and Verizon offer cell phones with a ready link option on some of their phones. For a small monthly fee Sprint and Verizon offer unlimited push-to-talk access in addition to the minutes the user already has with a plan. Nextel has cell phone plans that include a limited or unlimited number of Direct Connect access. It should be noted, however, that the push-to-talk option will only work when communicating with those using the same carrier. In other words, Verizon ready link will not work with Sprint or Nextel.

It is a great way to keep in touch without paying big bucks for minutes and the walkie talkie will work in some areas that the phone signal will not.
